Hydro-Chem Systems proudly returned to the 2022 PowerClean Show hosted in Orlando at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort. “PowerClean” is a joint convention hosted by two separate organizations, PWNA (Power Washers of North America) and CETA (Cleaning Equipment Trade Association)

Who Attends PowerClean?

PWNA is composed of members representing mobile washing businesses performing a variety of cleaning services ranging from roof cleaning, house washing, hard surface cleaning, truck washing, and a variety of other specialized services including Holiday Light Decorating, Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning, and wood/deck restoration.

CETA is an organization dedicated to pressure wash equipment/service dealers as well as chemical sales & manufacturing. Our own president Dave Presley was also recently elected to serve on the board with CETA!

PWNA members rely on CETA certified companies to provide them with reliable equipment, service, training, and products. CETA organizations are trusted by their customers to ensure high quality standards for the products they require to become more successful and generate repeat business.

Both non-profit organizations come together annually at PowerClean with 30+ years of experience with the shared goal of raising industry standards and enhancing the success for their members. The board members for each group will meet separately and collectively to tackle industry challenges, ethics, best practices, and current environmental/political issues.

Due to the challenges of Covid-19, the PowerClean Convention had not taken place since 2019. Attendees were able to attend a diverse schedule of classroom sessions, roundtable discussions, and experience a vast trade show floor with over 50 exhibitors. Hydro-Chem Systems’ very own Chad Reiffer was also nominated to teach the “Fleet Washing Certification” course on behalf of the PWNA which focused on cleaning methods, wash factors, detergents, equipment, and safety.

Key Take-Aways

There were several take-aways from the event. First of all, the renowned return of face-to-face networking which has been sorely missed during the global pandemic, was welcomed by all. The value of discussing trade secrets, business practices, and celebrating the contributions of group members is second to none!

Without a doubt, environmental & safety issues were at the forefront of virtually every classroom session, roundtable event, and networking discussion. Recently the state of California was moving towards outlawing the use of gas combustion engines which would effectively eliminate the sale & use of any pressure washer.  Collectively, the CETA organization lobbied to have this ban delayed to a future date in an effort to better develop sustainable cleaning technology without carbon emissions. Pressure washing is an absolutely essential operation for residential/industrial cleaning standards.

There is also continued focus towards compliance with the Clean Water Act (CWA) on behalf of the mobile contract cleaners as well as the equipment dealers & service technicians. Preventing wash runoff from entering our water supply is essential for clean drinking water, aquatic life, and sustainability. Chemical manufacturers like Hydro-Chem Systems also remain on the forefront by producing biodegradable detergents without the use of phosphates in their formulation which also helps promote more sustainable cleaning.

Collectively both CETA and PWNA organizations are focused on safety, quality, reliability, and a unified approach for the pressure washing industry. HCS will use our experience to better serve our local Michigan customers with pressure washing equipment, service, and chemical detergents. We also serve a national customer & distributor base and seek to enhance the customer experience by promoting membership for these groups and sharing the information learned as part of our “Proven Process.”
